AFC Telford United 0-1 Forest Green Rovers

Lee Hughes
Lee Hughes signed for Forest Green from Port Vale in January

Forest Green Rovers made it just one defeat in seven games as Lee Hughes' sixth goal of the season earned victory at bottom-of-the-table AFC Telford.

The veteran striker headed coolly home from Luke Rodgers' deflected cross with just 19 minutes to go.

Rovers were on top for much of the first half and could have led through efforts from Hughes and Rob Sinclair.

The second period was a tighter affair until Hughes' strike, to which the Bucks could muster no response.

Forest Green are up to seventh in the table after their third away win of the season, just six points off top spot, while Telford remain deep in trouble.

Forest Green manager Ady Pennock told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"It wasn't a classic but it doesn't matter where they are in the league, it's a difficult place to come.

"As a team I thought we were good and I was pleased with the substitutions.

"Lee Hughes has got that horrible knack of being at the right place at the right time. He's done that throughout his career and he's still doing it for us."
