Torquay United manager Chris Hargreaves was unhappy after being sent to the stands during his side's

The 42-year-old was shown a red card by referee Robert Whitton after speaking to him at the end of the first half.

"I asked the referee a question at half-time about whether I could see him about two of the incidents and the next thing I know I'm not allowed out.

"I'm very, very, very disappointed and surprised, but that's life," he said.

The Gulls also had Courtney Richards sent off for a second booking with 26 minutes to go, while Duane Ofori-Acheampong and Angus MacDonald received yellow cards.

Richards was the fourth Torquay player to be sent off this season after saw red against Southport in August and Toby Ajala and Aaron Downes were both

"I can't comment on the performance of other people, I've got to look at myself and I was very surprised I wasn't out for second half, let's just put it that way," Hargreaves told BBC Radio Devon.

"I'll look through the games again, like I do, and decide if it was a caution or not.

"If I don't think it was, and my staff don't, and the people who watch the DVDs with us don't, then what do you do? Is it a non-contact sport? It's very difficult.

"Of course we'll evaluate it and speak to the group and discuss it because we can't keep losing players with suspensions through yellows and reds, I know that."
