Swindon Town striker Jon Obika could return to action within a month after being told he does not need surgery on his injured shoulder.
It was initially feared the 24-year-old would be ruled out for 12 weeks but further scans on Wednesday revealed an operation was not necessary.
"It could be a month now - three or four weeks," manager Mark Cooper told BBC Wiltshire.
"We saw the surgeon and he's really pleased with the healing process."
Obika joined Swindon from Tottenham on 1 September for an undisclosed fee and netted five goals in his first five games for the League One club.
Saturday's 3-0 win against Barnsley, which moved the Robins up to third, was the first match in which had failed to score this season, after only lasting 20 minutes before being taken off with the shoulder problem.
