Birmingham City defender Jonathan Spector has been ruled out for three months with a torn thigh muscle.

The 28-year-old USA international went off in the final minute of Blues' 2-1 home defeat by Fulham on Saturday.

It is the second injury suffered by a Blues defender in a month, following the loss of Neal Eardley in a 2-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday on 16 September.

But manager Lee Clark says Eardley and striker Lee Novak may now be not too far away from a return.

Speaking at Thursday's pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's game against Charlton Athletic, Clark said he was hopeful that both players would be fit to return following next week's international break.

Meanwhile, Blues winger David Cotterill has been named in the Wales squad for their European Championship qualifying fixtures against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Cyprus, when he will be hoping to add to his 20 international caps.
