Cambridge United: Jez George named chief executive
Cambridge United director of football Jez George has been named the new chief executive and will take over the day-to-day running of the club.
Chairman Dave Doggett ran the club on a voluntary basis during last season's promotion campaign to League Two.
George, 44, has been first-team and youth-team manager during his eight years at the Abbey Stadium.
"My job changes in that I will look after the running of the whole club," he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"I've been here for a long time. I think I know everything about the club in terms of day-to-day running. The challenge of promotion now is to make sure we continue to go forwards.
"A lot of good people have helped us get to this point, but we need to find a structure going forward that enables us to grow off the pitch so we can continue to build on the pitch."
