Manager Nicky Law has urged his Alfreton side to take heart from their efforts in the 2-0 defeat by Gateshead.
The Reds are just one place off the bottom of the Conference after Tuesday's 11th loss in 15 league games this season.
But Law remained upbeat, saying: "The performance was a real positive one.
"No-one is cutting us apart, we are self-inflicting and we have been saying it all season. We have just got to cut out the individual errors."
Law signed a new contract in May and has been in charge of the Reds since 2007.
Last season he guided them to 11th place in the Conference Premier, their highest placing in the football pyramid, but they have only won three league games this term.
"It is fine lines. We are not a million miles away," Law added. "But we have got to try and get back to being a team that no one likes to play.
"We have always been a team that has been difficult to get anything from during my seven years here and that is what we have to get back to."
