Woking 1-3 AFC Telford United

Mike Phenix netted twice as Conference bottom club AFC Telford United recorded only their second league win of the season at second-placed Woking.

Phenix put the Bucks ahead when he nodded home Sean Clancy's cross before John Goddard levelled for the hosts.

Telford restored their lead just minutes after the restart when Phenix tapped the ball home from close range.

Sam Smith extended their advantage to seal a valuable three points for the visitors late on with a cool finish.

Telford are now within three points of 23rd-placed Alfreton, while Woking drop to third following their second home defeat in three games.

Garry Hill: Woking boss on Telford defeat

"We are very disappointed all round. No excuses, no complaints - all credit to Telford.

"They showed more desire and hunger then us over the ninety minutes. Very rarely in the three and half years I have been here have I had to say that.

"We were totally out-fought and dominated.

"Steve Thompson watches the DVD and I will be taking it home as well tonight and going through the agony. I will deal with it all once I have watched the game."

Telford manager Liam Watson told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"We've been lining the team up to make us hard to beat and, while I know it's still a long, hard season, I actually think we're growing into the league.

"Mike Phenix will get the headlines for his two goals, but Christian Platt was magnificent and Freddie Hall had a great debut in goal.

"But I shouldn't be singling out individuals. This was a real team effort."
