Kudus Oyenuga scored twice as Cowdenbeath moved above fellow strugglers Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Championship.
The striker broke the deadlock with a right-footed shot before the half-time interval.
Liam Buchanan levelled after the break but Oyenuga soon netted his second, this time with his left foot.
Calum Gallagher's header gave Cowden a healthier lead before Greig Spence headed one back for the Wasps.
