Brighton & Hove Albion 1-1 Rotherham United

Lee Frecklington and Inigo Calderon
Brighton have only won one of their seven home Championship games this season

Alex Revell extended his former club Brighton's winless league run to 10 games with an equaliser for Rotherham.

Brighton took the lead just before the break when Joe Bennett scored at the second attempt after being played in by midfielder Gary Gardner.

The Millers hit back early in the second half, Revell firing in from Ben Pringle's low cross before David Stockdale saved from Craig Morgan.

Stockdale saved Jonson Clarke-Harris's late free-kick to preserve a point.

Brighton: Draw specialists
Brighton have now drawn seven of their last 10 Championship games, losing the other three.

The hosts started better, with striker Chris O'Grady shooting wide from Adrian Colunga's cross.

They continued to dominate possession and Bennett had a downward header tipped wide by Rotherham goalkeeper Adam Collin.

Rotherham threatened when Jordan Bowery headed Pringle's cross just wide before Stockdale kept out Paul Green's shot.

The opener came in first-half injury-time when Gardner's pass was slid in from a tight angle by defender Bennett.

The lead did not last long however, as Revell - who spent two years at Brighton - pounced on Pringle's delivery to level the scores.

Seagulls goalkeeper Stockdale had to be on fine form to keep out Morgan's shot with a one-handed save.

Brighton missed headed chances through Lewis Dunk and Colunga and were grateful to Stockdale, who kept out Clarke-Harris's free-kick and Gordon Greer's attempted clearance to earn a point.

Brighton manager Sami Hyypia: "We needed to defend well at the start of the second half but we made wrong decisions on the ball. We lost the ball and didn't create that many chances.

"We need to try and work hard to make the individuals better and we need to go to the transfer market to try and bring in a few players to add quality.

"I want us to toughen up a bit, be mentally tougher and more mature to play the whole 90 minutes."

Rotherham manager Steve Evans: "I'm pleased with the effort but at the same time frustrated. Brighton were better in the first 15 minutes but then we changed it.

"In the second half we pushed for a second goal but were denied by three or four wonderful saves by their keeper.

"Last year I watched a lot of Championship football and felt it was boring. I fell asleep in games, but I would rather take the chance and try and win a match."
