Nottingham Forest 1-3 Blackburn Rovers

Rudy Gestede
Rudy Gestede scored Blackburn's second goal to take him to six for the season

Nottingham Forest lost at home for the first time this season as Blackburn came from behind to win at the City Ground.

Matty Fryatt put Forest ahead after Britt Assombalonga's effort hit the post and kindly fell to him.

Rovers pushed forward and scored three times in 11 minutes in the second half.

Alex Baptiste fired them level, Rudy Gestede's header put them in front and Jordan Rhodes's effort from the edge of the area secured three points.

Stuart Pearce's Forest impressed in the first half, with both Assombalonga and Fryatt wasting good opportunities.

Blackburn at Nottingham Forest
Blackburn have won six of the last 11 meetings at the City Ground in all competitions, drawing three and losing just two.

The pair combined for the opening goal, with Robert Tesche finding Assombalonga, whose bending shot hit the upright and rebounded to Fryatt, who finished into an empty net.

Blackburn levelled after keeper Karl Darlow failed to deal with a Ben Marshall cross and defender Baptiste drilled in.

Henri Lansbury nearly restored the home side's lead but was denied first by a Jason Steele save and then the post.

The visitors secured all three points as Gestede headed home from Lee Williamson's cross and then Rhodes pounced on a defensive error to place a shot inside the far post.

Forest manager Stuart Pearce:

"We were reasonably pleased in the first half to come in ahead. We felt we could get on top of them in the second half; we felt we could get a second goal.

"But we did not take the game by the scruff of the neck and the more Blackburn got on top of us, the more we did not show the leadership required to stem the flow.

"It was a disappointing afternoon and I am not going to gloss over that."

Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer:

"We have put performances like that in before this season, we have shown that we can create chances.

"We have ability in the dressing room to create chances and score goals.

"It is important for us to get on a run now. But if you look at the Championship there are probably 15 teams who could break into the play-off places with a couple of wins."
