AFC Telford United 2-1 Altrincham

Bottom club Telford cut the gap at the foot of the Conference table to two points with victory over Altrincham.

The home side belied their lowly league position with a strong start, going ahead when Sam Smith bundled in.

Having wasted their best first-half chance through Telford old boy Kyle Perry, Alty dominated after the break.

Against the run of play Adam Farrell made it 2-0 late on after a howler from keeper Stuart Coburn, before Perry hit a consolation deep into injury time.

His left-footed effort against his old club in the 97th minute leaves Telford still waiting for their first clean sheet of the league season after 19 games.

Bucks on a roll
AFC Telford United have now lost just once in six league and cup matches.
Kyle Perry scored 32 goals in 68 league games for the Bucks (2004-2006).

The Bucks were indebted to Freddy Hall's fine save from Gillespie's header, and the Bermudan keeper was also relieved to see a Sean Williams drive end up just outside the post.

Telford are now six points adrift of safety, but a run of two wins from their last three league games has at least given players and fans reason to believe after a dismal start to the season.

The Bucks' victory came at a cost, however, as they lost skipper Sean Clancy with a suspected broken collarbone when he fell awkwardly in injury time after going up for a header.
