Bury 3-1 Hemel Hempstead Town

By Nathan MiddletonBBC Sport at the JD Stadium

Bury scored two late goals as they beat Conference South side Hemel Hempstead to reach round two of the FA Cup.

The non-league side, 61 places below their League Two opponents, took a surprise lead when James Potton scuffed a left-footed strike past Rob Lainton.

Bury soon levelled when midfielder Andrew Tutte rifled into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Centre-back Nathan Cameron's close-range finish put the Shakers ahead late on before Daniel Nardiello headed in.

Hemel Hempstead were appearing in the FA Cup first round for the first time since 1938-39 - when they were known as Apsley - and the lively Potton caused the home side numerous problems.

Bury manager David Flitcroft told BBC Radio Manchester:

"When you're in these difficult fixtures, how players can raise their performance by 40 or 50% is inspiring.

"We got to half-time on equal footing then after that we attacked with a passion and precision.

"We created so many chances."
