Yeovil Town 1-0 Crawley Town

Yeovil booked their place in the FA Cup second round draw as an early goal from on-loan Manchester City striker Jordy Hiwula saw off Crawley at Huish Park.

They went close inside two minutes when Sam Foley cut in from the left to curl a right-footed shot onto the post.

But, just five minutes later, Hiwula shrugged off a hesitant Joe Walsh to roll home his first senior goal.

Izale McLeod's second-half header over the bar was as close as Crawley came to levelling the all-League One clash.

He beat keeper Jed Steer to the ball only to see his effort sail just too high on the hour mark as Yeovil, currently 23rd in the league and eight places below Crawley, held on.

Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson told BBC Somerset:

"I said before the game that I felt a bit more confident that there was light at the end of the tunnel.

"It was quite brave to say that, but that was how I felt. The lads put that together today, they looked like a team that could pass it and I'm really pleased that Jordy Hiwula got his goal.

"I'm pleased for him because he's been unlucky, but we have kept persevering and now he's a match winner for us.

"Although 1-0 can't be comfortable, it was as comfortable as a 1-0 result could be."

Crawley Town boss John Gregory told BBC Surrey:

"We paid the price for a howler and it doesn't seem to happen to us very often that the opposition do that for us.

"It was a huge mistake and it ended up being the only goal in the game. There were too many indifferent performances, too many individuals coasting through the game.

"A lack of passion, a lack of people putting their necks on the line. We carried too many passengers and it's not good enough.

"We just went out of it with a whimper today and that's the difficult thing for me to accept.

"You can ask the players inside if they had the chance to start again would they make a better job of it but you don't get that second chance."
