Championship strugglers Blackpool have signed a fourth player in a week, with Hull City defender Brian Lenihan joining on a one-month loan deal.

The 20-year-old moved to Hull from Cork City in August, but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Tigers.

He will cover for captain and right-back Tony McMahon, who was sent off in Wednesday's 2-2 draw at Fulham.

Lenihan joins winger Jacob Murphy and midfielders Jonathan Legear and Jamie O'Hara in moving to Bloomfield Road.

He is set to make his debut against Leeds on Saturday.

Manager Lee Clark, who recently took charge of Blackpool, told the club website:external-link "I was watching him before he signed for Hull when I was Birmingham manager.

"He's very attack-minded and he's got great energy to get up and down the park."

The Seasiders have also announced that former Bolton, Celtic and Aston Villa winger Alan Thompson has joined the club as first-team coach.

The 40-year-old, who won one England cap, filled a similar coaching role at Celtic under Neil Lennon, now boss of Bolton, from 2010-2012.
