Piero Mingoia scored twice in a league game for the first time as Accrington moved towards the League Two play-off places with victory over Cambridge.
Mingoia struck first on 34 minutes, volleying John O'Sullivan's far-post cross past the helpless Chris Dunn.
The midfielder's second came on 72 minutes, his shot taking a deflection to wrong-foot the goalkeeper.
Cambridge, who are 13th, replied late on when Michael Nelson finished superbly from 25 yards.
