Defender Raphael Rossi Branco may have played his last game for Swindon Town after failing to agree a new contract, says chairman Lee Power.
The 24-year-old Brazilian had initially agreed an extension beyond next summer, but Power says negotiations have broken down.
The centre-back was left out of Mark Cooper's squad for Saturday's 3-0 win over Notts County in League One.
"We'd disappointed with him," Power told BBC Wiltshire.
"He'd agreed to sign a but someone has got in his ear and he doesn't want to sign the contract now and he doesn't want to be at the club."
Branco arrived at the County Ground in the summer of 2013, having first come to England to play with Brighton.
He has played 31 games for Town, with his last appearance coming on 22 November against Peterborough.
"We need players here who want to play for the club, not for themselves. That's why he's not here today," said Power on Saturday.
"When you negotiate a contract it's not a problem. But when someone shakes your hand not once but twice on it and then decides he doesn't want to do it - we can't run a club like that.
"People can see from the outside that I'm trying to set certain standards and if you allow one person to do it, it would be an epidemic."
