Coventry City 0-0 Walsall

Walsall stretched their unbeaten league run to five games with a point from the Midlands derby with Coventry City.

Jim O'Brien forced a fine flying save from Saddlers goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell in an otherwise quiet opening period of the match.

Coventry improved after the break, but lona man Gary Madine could not find the net with an audacious 40-yard lob, which O'Donnell did well to keep out.

Walsall rise to 13th, while the Sky Blues remain 18th, two points behind.

Sky Blues manager Steven Pressley told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire:

"It was a really tough League One game against an in-form Walsall side.

"We had control of the game for long periods, and we certainly had the vast majority of possession and a vast majority of the pressure.

"We were unfortunate not to win. The encouraging thing is that's our third clean sheet in four games and it gives us something to build on."

Walsall manager Dean Smith told BBC WM:

"That's five league games unbeaten now and I'm pleased with where we're moving towards. We're a difficult team to beat and whilst we know that we need to score more goals, things are progressing well.

"They were always a threat because they are a big, physical team and we had to defend a lot of balls into the box after the break.

"With our dominance in the first half, it was disappointing that we couldn't also leave here with three points. But it was a fair result in the end and the positive is that it is another clean sheet,"
