Match ends, Gillingham 2, Port Vale 2.
Midfield veteran Michael Brown's injury-time goal rescued a point for Port Vale against Gillingham in League One.
Dany N'Guessan put the visitors ahead after 18 minutes with a low shot from the edge of the box.
John Egan equalised for the Gills shortly before half-time with a brilliant 30-yard effort and then headed in his second after the break to put the hosts in front.
But 37-year-old Brown's late deflected shot sneaked in to earn Vale a draw.
Gillingham manager Peter Taylor told BBC Radio Kent:
"It was a nervous finish and, in that nervous finish, there was a goal we normally wouldn't concede.
"Stuart Nelson has held his hands up and said he should have stopped the equaliser. The ball might have been spinning. It was a little bit deflected, so maybe in some ways that might have made it a problem to deal with.
"I felt we did enough to win. At the start of the second half, we opened them up a couple times, but anything can happen in football.
"You make your changes because you think that you're doing them for a reason - I changed our shape because simply I thought Port Vale were causing us too many problems."
Port Vale manager Rob Page told BBC Radio Stoke:
"We never accept a defeat - never. But there is a way to lose games of football and we did everything but put the ball in the back of the net up until the 94th minute.
"They gave me everything. I already had my end-of-game talk ready for them and I would have been proud of the performance we put in.
"I have just told them how proud I am of them. That is standard for me. Every game we play. We keep going to the 96th minute if we have to. That never-say-die attitude is what they have brought to the table. They should be commended for that.
"Michael Brown has experience. Every now and again, when he is up against youth, he struggles slightly, but he has more than enough experience to cope with that."
