Crewe Alexandra have signed Wycombe Wanderers defender Anthony Stewart on loan following his rejection of a new deal with the League Two club.
The move has proved complicated, as 22-year-old centre-half Stewart is not under contract at Adams Park after refusing an extension in the summer.
But the Chairboys have retained his registration as he is still under 24.

|Anthony Stewart was in the Wycombe Wanderers team that knocked Crewe out of the FA Cup last season in a first round replay at Gresty Road, having lost to them 4-1 at the same stage a year earlier.|
"We can keep him until January and they retain their right to compensation for him," Crewe manager Steve Davis said.
"But it gives us the chance of a longer look at him." Davis told BBC Radio Stoke.
Stewart has made 65 appearances for Wycombe, scoring four goals, and was a regular member of the side over the last two seasons.
