Exeter City 1-1 Burton Albion

Christian Ribeiro's late goal earned a point for Exeter as they and Burton missed their chance to put pressure on their League Two promotion rivals.

Burton took the lead when Jacob Blythe scored from close range after a cross evaded three Exeter defenders.

Adam McGurk connected with Alex MacDonald's pull back, but it deflected narrowly wide of goal as Burton missed a fine chance to kill the game off.

Exeter equalised when Matt Grimes' corner was headed in by Ribeiro.

A win for Burton would have seen them go joint-top of League Two with Wycombe, while Exeter would have moved into the play-off places with maximum points.

Burton Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told BBC Radio Derby:

"I feel for the boys because they did ever so well. They deserved the three points today, but it wasn't meant to be.

"Exeter's philosophy is playing football. They have got certain football players here and I think it makes it a very nice game for the neutral.

"I've enjoyed looking at my side today. OK, we didn't get the result we wanted, or deserved, but I enjoyed watching my side today."
