Colchester United goalkeeper Sam Walker has signed a new one-year contract extension until the end of next season.
The 23-year-old arrived from Chelsea in January after two previous loan spells.
Walker told BBC Essex: "I'm very happy and very comfortable here. I'm playing first-team football and developing so this is the right place to be.
"I could have held on until January but I don't have any interest at this stage of my career in going anywhere to sit on the bench or be a squad player."
Walker has made 158 appearances in all competitions so far in a career which has also taken in loan spells at Yeovil and Northampton.
Colchester currently lie 22nd in League One, two points adrift of safety.
"I think the signing of [experienced former QPR and Reading defender] Kaspars Gorkss is huge," added Walker. "I was thrilled when he walked through the door.
"He's just what we need at the back in terms of a real calming influence and experience. Fair play to everyone who made the signing happen."
