Jack Mackreth's early strike earned Grimsby Town all three points against Conference promotion rivals Macclesfield Town at Moss Rose.
Mackreth latched onto Nathan Arnold's rebounded shot to tap in the winner from close range after four minutes.
Waide Fairhurst almost put the Silkmen level after the break but he headed Scott Barrow's ball into the ground.
Danny Whittaker nearly snatched a late equaliser for the hosts but Grimsby held on and are unbeaten in five games.
Grimsby Town manager Paul Hurst told BBC Radio Humberside:
"It's a great result. I said I wanted result over performance today definitely.
"But that said, before the game we talked about them being unbeaten at home and wanting to try and be the first team to do that.
"It was a bit scrappy really. I said we needed to look after the ball better.
"To take three points and to be the first team to do so, it's a great result."
