Altrincham 4-1 Chester

Nicky Clee and Damian Reeves both scored twice as Altrincham thumped 10-man Chester at Moss Lane.

Clee's 30-yard strike put Alty ahead before Reeves got on the end of Simon Richman's pass to finish from 12 yards.

John Rooney's 28th-minute free-kick from just outside the area made it 2-1.

But, after City defender Ibou Touray was shown a straight red card for a bad foul on Clee early in the second half, Alty took advantage to score again through Reeves and Clee.

Within 10 minutes of Touray's exit, it was 4-1 as Reeves tapped home for 13th goal of the season before Clee completed the scoring with a low shot from inside the box.

After winning 2-0 at Bumpers Lane on Boxing Day, the Robins' second win over Chester in the space of seven days has lifted them to 16th in the Conference Premier table.

Steve Burr's City, who are set to bring in right-back Ryan Higgins from Telford, drop two places to 17th after their fourth defeat in five games.

Chester manager Steve Burr told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"I'm very, very disappointed with that. It was just nowhere near good enough or the type of performance we showed just a few days ago up at Halifax. We take one step forward then take a giant step back.

"We had a great following and we literally took over the ground with Chester fans, so I just feel for them because they back us so much. I really do feel we've let them down massively.

"I'd never want to think a team want it more than you and they shouldn't do. But it will appear like that because of the nature of how we didn't play and the performance of Altrincham.

"We seemed to have got to a level of where we are at and we just can't get over that barrier. We need to put an injection of new people in there who can take us now to that next one."
