Supporters of Burnley and Liverpool demonstrated their support for Clarke Carlisle with a minute's applause at Turf Moor on Boxing Day.
Former Burnley, QPR and Leeds United defender Carlisle, 35, is recovering in Leeds General Infirmary after being a hit by a lorry in Yorkshire on Monday.
The applause started in the fifth minute, reflecting the fact Carlisle wore the number five for the Clarets.
The former PFA chairman was airlifted to hospital following the accident on the A64, near the village of Bishopthorpe, at 07:30 GMT on Monday.
North Yorkshire Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident.
