Newcastle defender Steven Taylor has confirmed he is out for the rest of the season with a ruptured Achilles.
Taylor, 28, was injured during Newcastle's 3-3 draw with Burnley after scoring his first goal of the season.
"I know what to do in the rehab from last time and will come back fitter and stronger than before," he added.
"Thankfully it wasn't the one I did a few years ago. I'll have an operation on it on Wednesday but won't make it back now for the rest of this season."
Taylor, who has spent all of his career at St James' Park, had been restored to United's starting line-up in John Carver's first game as caretaker-manager after being an unused substitute in the 3-2 victory over Everton on Boxing Day.
He limped off after an hour and left the ground in a protective boot and on crutches.
Carver said in his post-match press conference: "You could tell the way he landed it was something to do with the calf or Achilles."
