Eastleigh have signed former Barnsley, Reading and Birmingham midfielder Brian Howard until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old ex-Southampton trainee was a free agent after being released by Oxford United on 23 December, having played just eight games for the club.
He scored one goal in five games for Championship side Birmingham last term after brief spells with CSKA Sofia, Bristol City, Portsmouth and Millwall.
So far in his career, Howard has made more than 375 professional appearances.
"I am delighted to have secured a player of Brian's calibre," Eastleigh boss Richard Hill told the Conference club's website. "He is a talented footballer who has played for some impressive clubs at a very good level.
"He has trained with us numerous times over the last couple of seasons.
"He is a local lad which is also great for the fans and I am sure he will be given a warm reception this weekend."
