Craig Malcom fired Stranraer ahead and the opener was quickly followed by Steven Bell's cool finish.
Dale Hilson's shot pulled one back for Forfar after the break but Malcolm scrambled home Stranraer's third.
Gavin Malin struck for Forfar and Jackson Longridge replied for the hosts, with the final two goals of the game coming in stoppage time.
