Noel Hunt has yet to make a start for Ipswich, but scored on his debut

Ipswich Town have signed forward Noel Hunt on a deal until the end of June following his release by Leeds.

The 32-year-old joined Town on loan in November, scoring once in four games, and had his Leeds contract terminated on Wednesday.

He scored on his Ipswich debut, coming off the bench to snatch a late winner in a 1-0 victory at Charlton.

Meanwhile, keeper Dean Gerken has signed a new two-year deal with a 12-month option at Portman Road.

The 29-year-old has made 57 appearances since joining from Bristol City in the summer of 2013, but had been kept out of the side by Bartosz Bialkowski until his return to the starting line-up in Saturday's 1-1 FA Cup draw with Southampton.

Hunt, the younger brother of Town winger Stephen, made just 14 league starts during his 18 months at Elland Road, during what he has described as a "challenging" time.

He is available to face promotion rivals Derby on Saturday, with Ipswich looking to stay in the Championship's top two.
