Motherwell defender Stephen McManus has won his appeal against the red card he was shown against Aberdeen on Sunday.

Referee Willie Collum dismissed the 32-year-old for stopping a Jonny Hayes shot on the line, awarding a penalty which was converted in a 2-0 Dons win.

A Scottish FA judicial panel ruled in favour of the player on Thursday.

"I was bitterly disappointed and frustrated to be red carded, but I do also accept that mistakes happen and are part of the game," said McManus.

Talking to the Fir Park club's website,external-link he added: "I am obviously pleased the red card has been rescinded and I very much look forward to Saturday's game against Dundee."
