Northampton Town winger Kaid Mohamed has been ruled out for three months.
The 30-year-old, on loan from Port Vale, broke a metatarsal during the 1-1 draw with Southend last Saturday and underwent surgery this week.
"It is a blow to us and for Kaid," said boss Chris Wilder, who is also missing Ian Morris to a serious injury.
"He will be missing until early April and that is a real shame. The focus now is getting him back firing for the final few weeks of the season."
Mohamed has scored five goals in 28 appearances since his loan move from Port Vale.
