Northampton Town 1-0 Dagenham & Redbridge

Ricky Holmes scored the only goal of the game as Northampton made it back-to-back wins by beating Dagenham.

The Cobblers started brightly as John-Joe O'Toole had his close-range effort blocked while Ryan Cresswell's header was cleared off the line.

Daggers' Rhys Murphy could have broken the deadlock when he raced clear but his lob over keeper Matt Duke was high.

Holmes then fired in off the upright from 15 yards on the hour mark after O'Toole's break down the right.

Northampton's victory lifted them up to 15th in the table, while Dagenham slipped to second-from-bottom, behind Tranmere on goal difference.

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Northampton:

"I thought we were excellent from setting foot on the field until we walked off it. We had to be patient and keep our concentration.

"Being greedy, maybe we should've won the game more comfortably, but I thought everybody played their part in a really good performance.

"We've got some good experience and a lot of energy in the team. I enjoyed watching the team.

"You get judged on your signings. Brendan (Moloney) was outstanding first half, Ricky gives us a spark and Jason (Taylor) does a fantastic job in the middle of the park."

Dagenham & Redbridge boss Wayne Burnett told BBC London 94.9:

"They were a very good team, with some good players. With the quality and calibre of players they have, it's very very difficult.

"We've only scored one goal in the last four games, which isn't ideal. It's been difficult.

"At times we were our own worst enemy. For the goal we should have made a different decision - the pass wasn't the right one and before you know it it's in the back of our goal.

"When they scored the momentum went with them."
