Hibernian 5-0 Cowdenbeath

Jason Cummings scored for the fifth straight game as Hibernian comfortably beat Scottish Championship opponents Cowdenbeath at Easter Road.

Paul Hanlon fired high into the net to give Hibs an early lead.

Scott Allan cut back for Cummings to net the hosts' second midway through the first half.

Scott Robertson, Callum Booth and Lewis Stevenson struck further goals for Alan Stubbs' men, who move to within five points of second-place Rangers.

The comprehensive win also lifts the Edinburgh side three points clear of Queen of the South, who drew 1-1 at Falkirk.

The hosts dominated from start to finish and Hanlon fired them into an early lead when an Allan corner was headed across goal for the defender to finish from close range.

In-form Cummings went close with two shots before grabbing his 12th goal of the season, finishing off from six yards after good work from Allan.

Robbie Thomson then made two excellent saves to keep out further strikes from Cummings.

There was a lull after the interval, with the action drying up until Robertson added a great solo goal on 74 minutes, drifting past two challenges to get into the penalty area and planting a composed shot into the far corner.

Substitute Sam Stanton tested Thomson with a powerful strike on the turn before setting up Booth to slam in the fourth goal.

Stevenson made sure both full-backs were on target for the home side when he found the bottom corner of the net from 20 yards on 90 minutes to wrap up a very one-sided game.
