Wigan Athletic 0-1 Huddersfield Town
- From the section Championship

Huddersfield narrowly won at Wigan to condemn the Latics to their fourth defeat in five games, leaving the home side five points from safety.
Conor Coady's late strike into the top corner lit up an otherwise uneventful Championship game at the DW Stadium.
Malky Mackay's Wigan side hardly troubled Alex Smithies in the visitors' goal throughout the game.
The Terriers could have scored more, having had two chances cleared off the line in the first half.
The result meant Huddersfield moved above Bolton and Charlton into 15th place in the table, 11 points clear of the relegation zone.
Wigan's woes |
---|
Wigan have won just one game, a 2-0 victory at Leeds on Boxing Day, since October. |
The 2013 FA Cup winners have taken just six points from a possible 39 in the Championship. |
Malky Mackay has seen his side lose seven of the 10 Championship games they have played since he was appointed as manager in November. |
A scrappy opening to the game saw Callum McManaman shoot straight into Smithies' arms early on, while at the other end Nahki Wells had an effort saved by Wigan keeper Scott Carson.
Huddersfield had two great chances to take the lead towards the end of the first half.
First, Wells saw his effort cleared off the line by Liam Ridgewell on 33 minutes before Mark Hudson's header from Jacob Butterfield's corner was cleared off the line, this time by Martyn Waghorn.
Wigan's best chance came just before the hour mark when James McClean, unmarked in the box, headed McManaman's cross over the bar.
Wells hit the side-netting from a narrow angle soon after while Butterfield warmed up Carson's hands with a rasping effort from 25 yards out with 15 minutes to go.
But it was former Liverpool youth player Coady who settled matters as he controlled a ball from Wells in a wide position and bent his shot into the top corner, leaving Carson with no chance.
