Scunthorpe United 2-0 Chesterfield

Chesterfield fell to their third consecutive defeat as second half goals from Niall Canavan and Paddy Madden steered Scunthorpe to victory.

The visitors started brightly and were almost ahead when Sam Morsey tested Luke Daniels from 25 yards.

Canavan struck his second in as many games when he nodded home Liam O'Neil's corner after the restart.

And Madden sealed three points for Scunthorpe when he raced into the box to notch his 15th goal of the season.

It was the Iron's first clean sheet since last October and they moved up to 14th in the table, as Chesterfield slipped to eighth.

Scunthorpe United manager Mark Robins told BBC Radio Humberside:

Robins on Scunthorpe v Chesterfield

"You look back to the points dropped against Coventry but, in all honesty, the last two games have been great and you look forward to the game on Saturday.

"Credit to the players they've followed everything I've said to them to the letter.

"They've tried things, they've taken things onboard and created a number of chances tonight and thankfully second-half we got that little bit of quality in front of goal."
