Morton leapfrogged Forfar into second place in Scottish League One after a narrow victory at Station Park.
The Ton had two efforts cleared off the line early on as Ross Caldwell and Stefan McCluskey went close.
Joe McKee tapped in after Rab Douglas saved Caldwell's header though Forfar levelled when Danny Denholm finished off a Chris Templeman long-range pass.
Peter McDonald restored Morton's lead with a rifled shot five minutes later, then Denholm hit the visitors' bar.
