Cheltenham Town youngster Jamal Lawrence has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract at Whaddon Road.

The 18-year-old striker has yet to make a first-team appearance for the League Two side, who are currently just three points above the relegation zone.

Lawrence's uncle is former Gloucestershire cricketer David Lawrence, who played five Test matches for England.

"I think we've got a great prospect on our hands," said boss Paul Buckle.

"He's someone I knew about before I came to the club.

"He's got a fantastic attitude, which is vital. He's very quick, technically good and got all the attributes to be a top player."
