Leicester manager Nigel Pearson says he will do all he can to avoid making any last-minute transfers on deadline day.

City are bottom of the Premier League and have only managed to sign two players so far in January, with Andrej Kramaric and Mark Schwarzer arriving.

Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester: "If you have to do it, you have to do it. In an ideal world, I don't see why deals are done so late.

"But I will certainly not be getting involved in that myself."

Leicester have failed in their attempts to sign Shaun Maloney and Japanese forward Shinji Okazaki during the transfer window, which closes on Monday, 2 February.

Pearson added: "We have tried to do the business we wanted to do and we got two done very quickly. If we can strengthen, we will, but I don't know. We will see."
