Veteran Jamie Cureton's brace secured all three points for Dagenham & Redbridge at fellow strugglers York.

The 39-year old striker earned the Daggers a one-goal interval lead when he raced onto Billy Bingham's through ball to curl an effort into Bobby Olejnik's bottom right-hand corner.

Cureton then doubled his tally with a perfectly-measured lob over Olejnik.

Substitute Jake Hyde had a header cleared off the line, but York could not muster a response.

Dagenham have now gained 12 points from their last seven games, a run which sees them sit 17th in League Two, five points clear of the relegation zone.

York, who remain winless in 2015, now occupy 23rd place, two points away from safety.

City manager Russ Wilcox told BBC Radio York:

"Not good enough. Nowhere near good enough. We're very Jekyll and Hyde at the moment. We've got to produce results.

"The effort was there from the players but we lacked a lot of quality. I really feel for everyone at the football club. It's down to me to sort out."

Dagenham and Redbridge boss Wayne Burnett told BBC London 94.9:

"We've come here and had an absolutely fantastic result. Over the past few months, we've had problems from corners and set pieces but not today.

"I felt that we could have come in another goal up in the first half. What I wasn't happy about was the fact that we weren't switching on quickly enough when the ball went out of play or when it went for a free kick. We spoke about it at half-time and the players responded fantastically."
