Alfreton Town 4-2 Southport

Alfreton improved their hopes of avoiding the drop with a 4-2 win over fellow Conference strugglers Southport.

Southport led at the break thanks to a howler from home keeper Jason Mooney, who fumbled the returning Richard Brodie's 20-yard shot into his own net.

But Bradley Wood levelled from the spot before turning provider for Karl Hawley to score from close range.

Callum Howe headed a third and, despite Paul Rutherford quickly pulling one back, Joe Connor's own goal sealed it.

Alfreton's penalty equaliser two minutes into the second half came when Luke Foster brought down Tom Shaw, allowing Wood to tuck away his fifth spot-kick this season.
