Charlton Athletic 2-3 Norwich City

Cameron Jerome
Cameron Jerome has scored 14 goals in the Championship

Cameron Jerome's late header ended a second-half fight back from Charlton Athletic and secured victory for promotion-chasing Norwich.

Jonny Howson and Lewis Grabban gave Norwich a deserved lead as the home fans turned on new coach Guy Luzon.

But Luzon's side showed spirit to hit back through substitute Tony Watt and Igor Vetokele, before Jerome struck.

Seventh-placed Norwich are two points off the play-off places. Charlton are three points off the relegation zone.

Former Standard Liege manager Luzon replaced Bob Peeters on 13 January but Charlton have now gone five games without a win under the Israeli.

With Charlton all over the place and trailing 2-0 at home at half-time the fans turned on Luzon, singing that he would be "sacked in the morning" and booed the players off the pitch at the interval.

Luzon made a change for the second half, replacing Frederic Bulot with forward Watt and his introduction paid off in the 61st minute when the 21-year-old notched his first goal since leaving Standard Liege last month.

Charlton levelled the scores in the 68th minute when Vetokele found the net after Norwich keeper John Ruddy had parried an effort from Harriott.

Both sides created more chances but it was Jerome's header that bounced over the line in the 83rd minute that proved decisive.

Charlton head coach Guy Luzon:

"After we went 2-0 down the atmosphere was not easy. We came back to the dressing room and I told them I knew they had given 100% and we needed to come back in the second half with more passion.

"We needed to be smarter and work with our brains and we came back and scored two goals.

"To concede a third so late on was very disappointing, because we deserved to end with either one or three points because the attitude was fantastic.

"In our situation, with more than three months without a win, the players did well. I know the fans are very disappointed. We need the fans to be with us because that is the only way to get success."

Norwich manager Alex Neil:

"It was a good performance, but there were two moments of slack passing from us and we got punished twice. Then we had to force the issue to win a game that should have been out of sight.

"We got punished and 2-2 was really a travesty, so thankfully Cameron came on and managed to get the winner.

"I have told the players I wasn't happy with the slackness that has [almost] cost us - against the better teams we are not going to get away with that."
