Stevenage 0-0 Bury

Stevenage ended a run of three losses in a row with a goalless draw against fellow play-off chasers Bury at the Lamex Stadium.

Danny Mayor shot wide for the visitors before Boro's Bruno Andrade forced Nick Pope to save at the other end.

Ben Kennedy almost put the hosts in front on the hour mark but his long-range shot was wide of the target.

Andrew Tutte nearly secured all three points for Bury but his free-kick was well saved by keeper Chris Day.

Stevenage manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"It was a war of attrition. They're a different type of side to us.

"It was a very difficult surface and again we've suffered injuries tonight where players have gone down pot holes.

"We had to try and find a way to win the game with the players who were available.

"We did have a moment or two where we could have won the game. Our goal didn't come under that much pressure."

Bury manager David Flitcroft told BBC Radio Manchester:

"Against a team like Stevenage you've got to have the ball and respect the ball and make sure that you don't give it them back, because it's being launched back into your last third and we never allowed that.

"We've created some threatening chances and some threatening forward movements, but failed to score.

"Barring the keeper's fantastic saves, you know it's three points."

On the pitch: "There's no stability at all. I'm stunned myself. I watched the warm up; every time they've made a pass the earth just moved underneath them. The grass has completely just tore up."
