Cambridge United sign Jordan Slew after Blackburn Rovers exit
Cambridge United have signed striker Jordan Slew on an 18-month deal following his release by Blackburn.
The 22-year-old, who was a £1m signing for Rovers from Sheffield United in 2011, left Ewood Park on transfer deadline day.
He scored twice in nine games during a loan spell at Port Vale this season, and was sent off against Fleetwood.
"Jordan has some fantastic attributes and a fantastic pedigree," said director of football Jez George.
"Obviously his career has not progressed in the way he would have wanted since joining Blackburn for such a big fee at such a young age and he is yet to realise his potential.
"Our club is all about developing talented young players though, so this signing is really exciting. We believe that we can be good for each other."
Rovers signed Slew as an 18-year-old after he had scored three goals in 14 games for the Blades, but he only made two substitute appearances for them.
Prior to his stint with Port Vale, he was loaned out to Stevenage, Oldham, Rotherham and Scottish Premiership club Ross County.
