Goalkeeper Graeme Smith did well to keep out an early strike from Morton's Ross Caldwell, while at the other end Conor Pepper's shot hit woodwork.
Morton were awarded a penalty early in the second half when Declan McManus was brought down by Gary Fusco in the box and Caldwell converted.
But Robert Thomson headed home Bobby Barr's free-kick to level the match.
