Crewe Alexandra 2-0 Fleetwood Town

Goals from Nicky Ajose and Marcus Haber either side of the break gave Crewe victory at home to Fleetwood Town.

Leeds loanee Ajose's third goal in as many games gave the hosts the lead just before half-time, as he raced onto a Jamie Ness pass to calmly slot home.

Ajose then turned provider to secure Crewe's third straight win, crossing for Haber to head in at the far post.

No goals against at Gresty Road
Since being beaten 5-0 by MK Dons at Gresty Road on 31 January, Crewe have now kept clean sheets in successive home matches

The visitors had the better of the play but Ajose almost added a third, only to be denied by goalkeeper Chris Maxwell.

Having now won five of their last seven games, Crewe are up to 17th in the table, five points adrift of the League One play-off places and seven points clear of trouble.

Crewe boss Steve Davis told BBC Radio Stoke:

"It was a really professional performance from us. We controlled much of the game and restricted them to just one or two chances. They didn't get in behind us too many times and I was pleased with another clean sheet.

"Although it was a battle at times, we have come through it and got another three points. It has been a great week. That's three wins on the bounce.

"It was a game of few chances, but our two strikers combined for the second goal and Jamie Ness created the first for Nicky Ajose with an excellent pass."
