Peterborough United 2-1 Rochdale

A lightning start saw Peterborough defeat Rochdale and move within two points of the League One play-offs.

Harry Beautyman headed in Michael Smith's right-wing cross and Christian Burgess bundled in Joe Newell's corner as Posh led 2-0 within seven minutes.

Rochdale hit back when full-back Joe Rafferty rifled in the first league goal of his career from 25 yards.

Dale played the final minutes with 10 men when one of their three subs, Calvin Andrew, went off injured.

Peterborough moved up to 10th, while Rochdale dropped to 15th, seven points above the relegation places.

Rochdale manager Keith Hill told BBC Radio Manchester:

Hill on Peterborough v Rochdale

"I think there's a little bit of naivety in the way that we gave the goals away; individual errors do paint a sorry picture but that's what they are.

"With respect to the team's shape, I don't think there's an awful lot wrong.

"It's difficult because you plan all week to try to secure a clean sheet like every manager does but it's very difficult to legislate for the individual errors that we've made in the last two games and retain our self belief."
