Piero Mingoia
Piero Mingoia is Accrington's joint leading scorer with five goals

Promotion-chasing Southend United saw their 10-game unbeaten run in League Two ended by Accrington Stanley.

Joe Pigott hit the bar for the Shrimpers, but Accrington almost netted when Luke Joyce's volley was headed off the line by Ryan Leonard.

Piero Mingoia put the visitors in front when he fired in a neat volley, and Terry Gornell's lob doubled the lead.

Southend replied instantly as Barry Corr headed in David Worrall's cross, but Stanley comfortably held on.

Southend dropped to fifth, two points off the promotion spots, while Accrington moved up a place to 14th.
