On-loan Burton Albion striker Jacob Blyth could be sidelined until April with a hamstring injury.
Blyth is on loan with the League Two promotion hopefuls from Premier League club Leicester City and has scored five goals in 25 appearances.
The 22-year-old was injured in Saturday's win over Cheltenham Town.
"It's a big blow. It is a five or six-week injury but hopefully we will see him sooner," Brewers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told BBC Radio Derby.
"He is a strong lad. Hopefully he will heal a little bit quicker. He was just getting his rhythm, especially with Stuart (Beavon). They like playing with each other.
"It is a miss but it will open up a place for somebody else and an opportunity for someone else to take."
