French Ligue 1

Lorient 1-1 Lyon

Clinton N'Jie turned home Henri Bedimo's cross to level

Ligue 1 leaders Lyon could only draw at Lorient as they failed to capitalise on a weekend when their title challengers dropped points.

Both Marseille and Paris St-Germain drew but remain two points adrift of Hubert Fournier's side, who trailed Lorient to Jordan Ayew's header.

But Clinton N'Jie levelled with a low finish from Henri Bedimo's cross.

Lyon pushed for a winner and Christophe Jallet saw a curled effort saved by Benjamin Lecomte as Lorient moved 16th.

The draw takes Sylvain Ripoll's side's unbeaten run to three and moves them two points clear of the relegation zone.

They handled a Lyon side, who have now drawn three straight league games, well and it was not until Ayew headed home Benjamin Jeannot's cross that the league leaders looked lively.

Defeat would still have left them in top spot after PSG and Marseille drew 2-2 with Caen and Reims respectively earlier on the weekend.

Lecomte denied Nabil Fekir from close range with a superb save in the 55th minute, but a deflection found the home keeper wanting when N'Jie netted his third goal of the campaign.

Elsewhere in France's top tier on Sunday, Guingamp overcame Metz 2-0 away from home and sixth-placed Bordeaux beat St Etienne - still fourth - 1-0.
