Ally Gilchrist headed the opener before Montrose's Garry Wood had a penalty saved by Stewart Black.
The visitors' Ewan Moyes was then red carded for a second booking.
Daniel Moore was the creator as Shane Sutherland and Mark Nicholson made it 3-0 at the break, and Jamie Duff added the fourth in the second half.
