Coventry City 2-1 Milton Keynes Dons

Coventry won under interim managers Neil MacFarlane and Dave Hockaday with a shock success over MK Dons.

Chris Stokes' header and a slick finish from Dominic Samuel in the first 12 minutes gave the hosts early control.

The Dons dominated the second half but broke through only once when Daniel Powell converted Carl Baker's cross.

The Sky Blues climb out of the League One relegation zone while MK Dons stay second but slip eight points adrift of leaders Bristol City.

After back-to-back victories on their return to the Ricoh Arena in September, Coventry had won just one home league game in over five months prior to Steven Pressley's sacking last Monday.

Sky Blues joint caretaker manager Neil MacFarlane told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire:

"It's a massive three points. We rode our luck and got the wee breaks at the right time that we've been craving.

"I'm really proud of the boys. It's been a tough week and all the staff mucked in just to get us that three points.

"Obviously with the manager leaving the last thing we want to see is this club get relegated. Hopefully that's a step in the right direction.

"When you haven't won at home for a number of months, this is the kind of game it takes to turn a corner."

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"I'm so, so proud of my players and the fans. If we play like that every week we'll go up.

"Winners accept these games and we know what we have to do turn it around and keep performances to those levels.

"I'm so proud of the football club, I really am. I felt like a motivational speaker before the game. I said to them 'you woke Milton Keynes up chaps. Don't let them go back to sleep.'

"I don't think they'll go back to sleep after a performance like that. We've woken Milton Keynes up. Let's keep going."
